Sponne School will be holding their annual business breakfast on the above date. We are looking for employers/businesses from all walks of life, from accountants, electricians, plumbers, gym instructors, hoteliers etc etc etc. We would welcome you to come to the breakfast meeting and meet with our sixth formers and talk to them on a very informal basis on what your role is and how you got to where you are. Maybe talk about the positives of your role and also the pitfalls. You will be talking to maybe 2 or 3 students at a table over breakfast and I as I said it will be very informal. This morning has worked so well in previous years. We have had employers offer students work experience there and then and also lots of business cards have been exchanged to carry on the support in the future. Also don’t forget there will be a wonderful spread of fresh fruits, croissants, Danishes, Tea and coffee.

Food and Farming Challenge Day Year 7 Students

WEDNESDAY 21st MARCH 2018 08.45AM – 13.30PM

The Farming Challenge Day for Year 7 students. This day is a great opportunity to help show our young students what farming is.  We discuss what foods are grown on farm and also about the farming of animals. After various research we ask the students to get into their teams and then they have to design their own farm. They first have to make plans on a small scale just with pencil. After that the fun begins with plastacine, pipe cleaners, cotton wool, colours, paints, tissue paper, modelling clay etc. It’s a really great day and the students learn so much. They will be looking at marketing, team work, communication skills, sales, sponsorship etc.  It will be great if you would like to come along and help support the students, you don’t have to be farming experts. We believe that the students will also learn a lot from business input as well. It is a fun day and enjoyed by all. Lunch, Tea and Coffee will be all is made available throughout the day.

FAWLTY TOWERS ENTERPRISE DAY YEAR 8 WEDNESDAY 25th APRIL 2018 08.45AM – 13.30PM  - YEAR 8 STUDENTS

This is always a super day with the students, there is lots of gluing and sticking and they can use their imaginations. We provide the students with details of a rundown hotel that needs to be brought back to life. They have to break their teams up into General Managers, Housekeepers, gardeners, restaurant managers, etc. They can choose the name of the hotel, they can choose the type of hotel they want it to be. The students design the rooms, the restaurant, create a menu, all the exciting things we wish we could all do when we stay at hotels. You don’t have to work in hotels but if you have stayed in hotels and have had that experience or you eat out at lots of different restaurants you too can help the students. We will work with the students the first couple of hours and then after lunch we will judge the hotels and choose winning teams from the year group. To those employers who have helped with this day before, you were brilliant and we would welcome your support again for this day. Lunch, Tea, and Coffee will be supplied throughout the day.

Thank you so much for looking at our events, we do hope you can join us. In the meantime if you have any questions at all please do call or email me anytime
